Director of Human Resources Awasis Agency of Northern Manitoba
The Awasis Agency of Northern Manitoba is mandated by the First Nations of Northern Manitoba CFS Authority to provide a continuum of preventive, support, maintenance and protection services to children and families in 11 First Nation Communities in Northern Manitoba, as well as in Winnipeg and Thompson.
Based in Winnipeg or Thompson, The Director of Human Resources (HR) will play a lead role in developing, implementing, and evaluation of HR policies and procedures in collaboration with Senior Management, Board of Directors and HR Coordinators. The incumbent will develop an HR plan to support the goals and objectives of the Agency.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of HR will provide and facilitate a wide range of HR services to the Awasis Agency’s employees in our various locations and offices; be responsible for the maintenance, implementation, development and consistent application of HR policies and procedures; provide guidance, support and direction to the Senior Management Team regarding all HR matters; and represent the Agency on internal and external committees or working groups, as assigned by the Executive Director.
The Director of HR supervises 2 HR Coordinators, and as a team will provide a wide range of service comprised of:

Human Resources Coordination and Planning
Work Place Safety & Health
Training & Development
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Degree or diploma in Business or Human Resource Management or related discipline
Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) designation is an asset
10 or more years of progressively responsible related work experience
5 or more years of experience in a senior HR management capacity
Demonstrated understanding and respect for Aboriginal culture
Extensive knowledge of employment standards and related legislation and common law
High level of commitment to First Nations’ control over services to children and families within their jurisdiction
Comprehensive knowledge of child welfare theory and practice and demonstrated experience in the development and provision of education and training within child welfare environments
Proficient in a variety of computer technology and software
Ability to speak Cree and/or Dene is a definite asset
